How it works (plain English)
Blocks the PDE5 enzyme, increasing blood flow in erectile tissue in response to sexual stimulation.
Key risks
Headache, flushing, nasal congestion, visual changes; rare priapism; sudden vision or hearing changes warrant urgent evaluation.
Who should not use it
Concurrent nitrate therapy; certain cardiovascular conditions where sexual activity is inadvisable.
Drug interactions
Dangerous drop in blood pressure with nitrates and some alpha-blockers; levels affected by CYP3A4 inhibitors.
